Chi Thao! I’m so happy for you and the fruition of your labor and dreams. I’m only a quarter of the way through and there have been moments and lines that were crafted just so well! 👏🏼 “There are unbearable things…but sometimes, the things that pull out the most longing are the quiet rituals you never thought you’d miss.”
Thanks for sharing your 48-hours and all the joy!
Waiting to hear about any Boston-area visits to give you an IRL hug and get a signed copy. Bravo! Xoxo
Thank you so much for this lovely message. Your words always fill me up! I hope we get to meet someday soon! ❤️❤️ wishing the best for you and your sweet family!
Big and heartfelt congratulations Thao. As a fellow Vietnamese-American woman and writer, a win for you feels like a win for us all and our API community. Thank you for this book and being so generous with sharing your process with us all. I'm taking my time with Banyan Moon and savoring it - I already feel so moved by the portrayals of each character.
This means the world to me, Pauline. I love that we can share in this joy together! I’m moved that you’re spending time with the Tran women — thank you for all this!
Soak it all in! I sat down to start the book and I think I got up maybe three times to go to the bathroom and get water/snacks before finishing with a very full heart and a breath of satisfaction. Such a beautiful way to chronicle the Vietnamese American experience through the eyes of three very different women.
It was watermelon (cut up by my husband because I'm incapable of eating fruit without someone else doing the dirty work), and no salt was involved because I needed my free hand to hold the book!
Wow, Reem, congratulations on the tiny little one! I hope all is going well so far. I remember how hard it was to do anything postpartum, so totally understand. Thank you so much for reading!
I love this, Thao! What an exciting trip!
