Hi, Lindsay. I agree that we could all use more self awareness (I definitely could!). I worked for cupcakes and cashmere as well, as an occasional contributor, and I found that the team — Jess included — was incredibly open to publishing pieces I and others wrote about our experiences as People of Color. I received a lot of emotional support from the team as well, in the aftermath of sharing more vulnerable work.
I didn’t see evidence of the public racism you mentioned in my time there or afterwards, and certainly not from Jess, who I worked closely with on a few projects. I don’t want to diminish your experiences or observations, but I wanted to share my own.
